House of May

Notes

On starting a house

House of May was formed on the seventeenth of June, 2026, in California. It is a small company built to hold a small number of things and to hold them well: software, music, and, in time, books. This note is the first entry in its record.

I started it because the work I care about does not fit one product, but it does fit one standard. A studio that answers to itself can take the long way. It can ship an app when the app is ready, keep a label's catalog in order because the songs deserve it, and let a book take the time a book takes. Nothing here is built to be flipped.

The house works owner-operated, and that is a design decision, not a budget. One person is accountable for the whole of a thing, from the first sketch to the support mail after it ships. Small keeps the standard legible. When something under this roof is good, or is not, there is never a question of whose name that falls to.

What the house holds today is honestly early. Thresho, an iPhone app for cooling a home on timing rather than air conditioning, is in TestFlight and nearing its release. Dominion Sound Publishing, the music line, tends its catalog. Two books are in progress, and a second app is underway. Each will be named here when it is ready to be seen, and not before.

That is the intent, recorded plainly so it can be held against us later: build carefully, own what we build, run it for the long term, and say only what is true.
